Vertical expansion joints in SL masonry veneers must be done as follows:

• near building corners,
• at a spacing of 6-8 meters in long sections of masonry
• in extension from window framing for large windows and doors

Proven joint sealing methods are:

• leaving vertical joints open
• joint sealant complying with DIN 18540
• joint filler made of foam rubber strips
