Because a 1:12 ratio of lime to sand is used to make the brick, relatively large quantities of sand aggregate are needed. Therefore the factory is built close to large deposits of natural sand. Once all of their sand content is exhausted, the deposit sites are recultivated and made available for use as recreational areas or biotopes.
